Slovakia notes progress with eHealth system enrolment

7,587 Slovak hospitals and outpatient facilities have been connected so far to the country’s electronic healthcare system eHealth, Sme daily reported, citing Peter Blaskovits, the head of the National Health Information Centre.

In addition, 92% of Slovak pharmacies have been connected to the system to date, the official also said, adding that he hoped that all local pharmacy outlets would be connected by now. Problems with connecting are reportedly experienced by smaller pharmacies.

The system, which enables electronic communication between doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and medical laboratories, became fully functional in 2018, with over 9 million e-prescriptions issued since the beginning of the year.
