Health Ministry wants to shorten waiting time for medical procedures

The Slovak Ministry of Health wants to shorten deadlines for various medical procedures and plans to introduce maximum waiting times for patients to wait for an operation and various examinations, Hospodarske Noviny reported.

The Ministry also plans to expand the number of specialists and ensure their better availability across the country. The government officials are currently in the analytical phase of the project and want to present it by the end of this year.

Currently Slovak patients need to wait for up to 30 days on average to see a specialist, while a waiting time for a surgery is 120 days in some Slovak hospitals.
