Medicana Hospitals, one of the biggest private medical chains in Turkey, would like to expand in the Balkans, according to the Turkish newspaper Milliyet. In Romania Medicana is going to build a hospital and has recently completed a feasibility study for this project. The planned hospital is expected to be located in Bucharest; municipal authorities have already allocated a lot for the project.
In March 2010 Medicana announced that the construction of the new hospital would be launched in September 2010 and cost $30m (€23.6m). The 10,000 m2 hospital will have beds for 100 patients and will offer cardiology and oncology treatment as well as organ transplantation and in vitro fertilisation. Medicana will employ 500 doctors and medical staff in the hospital. Later company intends to open hospitals in the biggest cities in Romania.
Medicana Hospitals would also like to expand to Poland, Hungary and Russia.
