Terapia Ranbaxy reports 21% sales growth in H1 2010
2010-08-24
Terapia Ranbaxy, the Romanian subsidiary of the Indian drug manufacturer Ranbaxy Laboratories, posted $48m (€37.8m) sales revenues in the first six months of 2010, 21% more than in the first half year of 2009. In H1 2010 Romania became the best performing EU market for Ranbaxy. In fact, Romanian sales were the main driver of the group's sales in the region.
Terapia expects to achieve RON 30m (€7m) export sales in 2010. Up to 80% of the export revenues should come from sales of the antiseptic Faringosept in the former soviet countries.
According to Dragos Damian, CEO of Terapia Ranbaxy, the overall sales of the company in 2010 are difficult to forecast because of the unclear drugs reimbursement situation in Romania.
Last year Terapia posted RON 310m (€73m) sales in the country, of which 55% on sales of drugs imported from the company’s factories in other countries and 45% on medicines produced at the Terapia factory in Cluj.
