Hungarian hospitals have HUF 40bn in overdue debts

The past due accounts payable by Hungarian hospitals total HUF 40bn (€144m), according to recent data provided by 176 hospitals to the Hungarian Ministry of National Resources. Of the surveyed hospitals, 41 do not have overdue accounts. The Ministry released a statement in which it warns that a possible financial consolidation by the state should not only cut debts but must serve as the engine of structural and operational reforms of the hospitals, otherwise the consolidation will merely be a temporary solution.
