The sales of the Czech pharmaceutical company Ratiopharm CZ, which primarily supplies generic drugs, dropped in 2009 on a year-on-year basis by 6.5%, reaching CZK 247.5m (€9.95m), according to the company's annual report. Meanwhile, the firm's profit increased by nearly 1% to CZK 9.86m (€0.4m).
The company enjoys an approximately 7% value share in the Czech generics market and ranks fourth in sales volume.
The company offers drugs in various therapeutical groups, including antibiotics, medicines used in diseases of cardiovascular system, central nervous system and pain killers.
The Czech subsidiary was opened in 1998 and last year employed 73 people. In March 2010 its German parent company, Ratiopharm, was bought out after falling into financial difficulties by the Israel-based Teva Pharmaceuticals in a deal worth €3.7bn.
