The Slovak state-run health insurer Vseobecna Zdravotna Poistovna (VsZP) is about to purchase drugs worth €61.6m, exclusive of VAT, according to a preliminary announcement published on the online portal Vestnik, run by the Slovak Public Procurement Office. Most of these drugs should be delivered for a period of 48 months following the signing of the contract.
VsZP is the largest health insurer in Slovakia and has approximately 3.5 million customers. In 2009 it reported a loss of €17.01m, mainly because of the impact of the economic crisis. On a year-on-year basis its written premiums paid by the economically active population fell in value by €29m in 2009.
