Bulgarian National Medical Coordination Centre to be closed

The Bulgarian government has decided to close the National Medical Coordination Centre. The Centre was created in 2004 and was responsible for organising the provision of medical services at times of emergency and disaster; however, this function overlapped with that of the Health Ministry. The money saved by closing the Centre will be re-directed to other areas of healthcare, including diagnostics and pharmaceuticals. The closure is due to take place within a month of the decision.
