36% improvement in Sopharma sales in Q2 2010

Sopharma, the largest Bulgarian drug manufacturer, achieved a 36.3% increase in its sales revenues to BGN 59.0m (€30.1m), in comparison with BGN 43.3m (€22.1m) in Q2 2009. In spite of this, total net sales in H1 2010 declined to BGN 82.6m from BGN 101.7m in H1 2009. There was a 1.7% reduction in a net profit, from BGN 12.1m (€6.2m) in Q2 2009 to BGN 11.9m (€6.1m) in Q2 2010.
In H1 2010, 31% of Sopharma’s sales were generated by domestic market sales, in comparison with 39% in H1 2009. The company had a 6% share of the Bulgarian pharmaceutical market. Export sales accounted for 69% of total H1 2010 sales and came to BGN 69.8m (€m), with substantial growth in Russia, Ukraine and the Central Asia countries sales.
