Romanian erectile dysfunction pills market worth €7m

The market for pills for erectile dysfunction in Romania is worth €7m per annum and, based on the results of the first quarter of this year, it is continuing to grow at a rate of 40% year on year, according to Cegedim. Every year Romanians buy more than one million pills, or 3,000 every day. On average consumers spend approximately RON 100 (€27) per one packet of pills at Romanian pharmacies.
The leader in this area of the market is Viagra, the well-known product of
Pfizer, which has a 50.7% share of the market in terms of value, followed by
Eli Lilly’s Cialis and
GlaxoSmithKline’s Levitra. Cialis has a 30% market share. The Romanian producer
LaborMed also has some erectile dysfunction pills in its product portfolio, but, whereas Viagra, Levitra and Cialis are Rx drugs, the products of LaborMed (Entran Forte) and
Walmark (Permen) are registered as
dietary supplements.
