Czech Ministry announces creation of cerebrovascular treatment network

The Czech Ministry of Health announced it is going to create a network of specialised centres for patients with cerebrovascular problems. The aim of the network creation is to improve the quality of prevention and treatment of cerebrovascular conditions. In addition to offering quality specialised care, the centres will also be expected to carry out activities in the area of research and new treatment application. The Ministry published a document in which it stipulates all personnel and technical specifications that a given hospital is required to meet in order to be included in the network. The deadline for submitting applications is 31 March 2010, and the submissions will be assessed by a special committee in April 2010.
The Czech Republic has one of the highest morbidity rate due to strokes, which is 2- to 3-fold higher than in other developed countries in Europe.
