Romanian government funds modernisation of vaccine production line
2010-03-09
The Romanian government has transferred RON 1m (€0.24m) of financial aid to Institutul Cantacuzino, the domestic vaccine manufacturer, for the modernisation of, and the purchase of new equipment for the production of vaccines against influenza and tuberculosis (BCG). The money will be used for the procurement of equipment for the preparation of water for injections and environmental monitoring systems for clearing the chamber.
The improvements are expected to help Institutul Cantacuzino to implement an urgent correction plan before April 15 which will allow it to renew its production permit after its GMP certificate has expired.
Institutul Cantacuzino is the only Romanian vaccine manufacturer included in the national immunisation programme.
