Sanofi-Aventis/Chinoin to spend HUF 11bn on R&D development
2010-03-05
Sanofi-Aventis/Chinoin, the Hungarian division of the French pharmaceutical company Sanofi-Aventis, intends to spend HUF 11bn (€40m) on R&D projects in 2010. According to the company’s spoksperson Ivan Rozsa, this amount is the equivalent of approximately 23% of the company’s 2009 revenues. It therefore appears that the company is planning to continue to spend a percentage of its revenue on R&D similar to that of last year – in 2009 it used 22% of its 2008 revenue for this purpose, as we reported in the December 2009 issue of Central Europe Pharma News.
The company intends to apply for state aid available for research and development as part of the national innovation strategy adopted by the Hungarian government in mid-2009. According to Peter Kiss, the Hungarian health minister, the government plans to grant HUF 180bn (€0.66bn) of state aid to support innovative projects in 2010.
