Bulgarian government in receipt of 80,000 doses of vaccine

The Bulgarian Health Ministry has received 80,000 doses of the A(H1N1) flu vaccine manufactured by Baxter, at a price of BGN 20 (€10.23) per dose. The vaccine will initially be offered to patients in the high-risk groups, including people with chronic respiratory conditions, diabetes and liver conditions, along with medical staff and pregnant women. Vaccines are free-of-charge and non-obligatory.
Health Ministry data shows that the incidence of flu still exceeds the 2009 average level but that there is no epidemic. There have been 40 confirmed fatalities caused by the flu since 2009, including four of pregnant women.
