Zilina regional authorities provide €0.4m for modernisation of four hospitals

The authorities of Zilina, a self-governing region in Slovakia, have announced that they will invest €0.37m in the modernisation of four hospitals in the region in 2010, according to the TASR news agency. The bulk of the funds – more than €0.25m – will be used to fund the purchase of equipment in a hospital in the town of Cadca. The hospital will receive new X-ray machines, operating lamps and tables. So far the regional authorities have invested €2.6m in the hospital’s maternity ward and operating theatres, as a result of which it is now the most modern healthcare facility of this kind in Slovakia.
Approximately €0.06m will be granted to a hospital and polyclinic in Trstena to finance the first stage of the construction of a neurology ward. Another hospital and polyclinic in Dolny Kubin and a hospital in Liptovsky Mikulas will receive €0.04m and €0.03m respectively for the purchase of ambulances.
