Slovak VsZP faces €330,000 fine over personal data leak

The Slovak Personal Data Protection Office has launched an investigation into a potential breach of Slovak data protection law by the state-owned health insurance fund, Vseobecna Zdravotna Poistovna (VsZP), according to the TASR news agency. The Office intends to examine the IT system security of the fund after an incident at the beginning of February, in which the ID numbers of 8,500 VsZP clients were published on the company’s website. The VsZP explained that the data was published by mistake and that the situation has since been rectified.
If the Office finds that the VsZP breached data protection law, it may fine the company between €1,650 and €330,000.
