Revenues of Slovak health insurers up by 4.6% in 2009
2010-02-17
The combined revenues of health insurance companies in Slovakia amounted to €3.4bn in 2009, which was €151.2m or 4.62% higher compared with the year before, according to data from the Health Care Supervisory Authority (UZDS) released on 15 February.
The sector’s net financial result rose by €44.9m compared to the planned budget. However, the figure was boosted by a €65.5m increase in the assets of Vseobecna Zdravotna Poistovna, the state health insurance company. Excluding this, health insurers actually made a loss of about €20m last year.
Total receipts from healthcare contributions were €17.3m below the plan, as the global economic crisis led to a decline in contributions from employees, employers and the self-employed.
