Olympus moves endocopes production to Czech Republic

Olympus Medical Products will relocate product development and manufacturing operations in the area of endoscopy systems from sites in Germany and Southeast Asia to its newly-opened production facility in Prerov in the Czech Republic.
The move reflects Olympus MP’s plan to concentrate research and production activities in the Czech Republic. The company has already invested some €6m in Prerov. At the moment the facility, which was launched in the autumn of 2009, focuses mainly on surgical instruments. The company plans to employ 150 people by the end of 2011.
