Several investors submitted offers in the auction for Ciech Polfa, the pharmaceutical arm of listed chemicals group Ciech, according to unofficial information obtained by Parkiet. Five of these bids are reportedly considered by Ciech’s board to be “serious”. The deadline for the submission of offers was 25 January. Krzysztof Grad, the company’s spokesman, said that Ciech was in the process of analysing the received bids, but declined to reveal the total number of suitors or their identity. He added that the company hoped to finalise the sale of Ciech Polfa by the end of June 2010.
Ciech Polfa specialises in exports and imports of medicines, active pharmaceutical ingredients and packagings for the pharmaceutical industry, and has a particularly strong presence in Central and Eastern Europe and former Soviet Union and Eastern Bloc countries.
Several previous attempts to sell the firm have been unsuccessful.
