Urgo Laboratories, a French manufacturer of OTC drugs and wound healing products, is planning to increase its sales in Romania by 10% year on year to RON 21.1m (€5m) in 2010, according to Anne Durocher, the country manager.
The sales growth is to be driven by newly introduced dietary supplements. Last year the company launched a new line under the Alvityl brand name. In 2010 five more products will be added to the three supplements being sold at present. The aim of the company is to achieve a 10% share of the Romanian dietary supplement market in terms of value by end of this year, with 60,000-70,000 units sold.
In 2009 up to 60% of the company’s sales came from Humex, a product for the treatment of respiratory diseases, and the remainder was generated by wound healing products.
The dietary supplement market in Romania was worth approximately €100m in 2009. The main suppliers of these products are
Walmark,
Europharm and
Ozone.
