Twenty Bulgarian hospitals can apply for EU funds for modernisation
2010-02-09
Only 20 Bulgarian state-run hospitals will qualify to apply for funding under the EU Regional Development Fund (EURDF) programme for hospital modernisation. Within the programme a total of BGN 79.9m (€40.9m) is allocated for the renovation of Bulgarian hospitals and purchase of new equipment.
The Ministry of Health has announced that due to strict criteria only a limited number of hospitals can apply for EURDF funding, as they are the ones which the Ministry's healthcare reform is aiming to turn into the country's leading high-tech hospitals.
Additionally, BGN 58m (€29.7m) will be allocated for the modernisation of three oncology hospitals which can apply for grants worth up to BGN 30m (€15.1m).
