Only 6% of Slovak healthcare workers vaccinated against swine flu

Only about 6% of healthcare workers have had the swine flu vaccination so far in Slovakia, according to the Health Ministry. The Slovak Public Health Authority (UVZ) has said that those in high risk groups underestimate the danger of health complications related to swine flu, according to a report from the Slovak news agency, TASR. The authority has been at pains to convince citizens about the safety of Panenza – the vaccine which Slovakia bought from Sanofi Pasteur last year to carry out the vaccination campaign – saying that it is the most optimal and effective preventive measure against swine flu, particularly because the disease is not limited to the typical flu season.
Slovakia started its inoculation campaign in December 2009.
