TU Europa, one of Poland’s fastest-growing insurance companies, has identified health insurance as a key new growth market. The WSE-listed company is about to conduct a huge share issue worth even up to PLN 200m (€49.2m) to bolster its capital base, and aims to use the proceeds among other things to develop a line of health insurance products (as well as e.g. to grow its bank assurance business and introduce tourist insurance), CEO Jacek Podoba told Puls Biznesu.
In the nine months to the end of September, TU Europa generated a total of PLN 2bn (€492m) in premium revenues, suggesting that the full-year figure will be significantly higher than the PLN 2.9bn (€715m) achieved in the whole of 2008.
