Slovak health insurer Dovera to pay €100,000 fine

Slovakia’s largest private health insurance fund, Dovera, has been fined €100,000 by the country’s Healthcare Surveillance Authority (UDZS), according to the SITA. The fine was reduced from the €166,000 imposed earlier by the authority in April 2009 after an appeal by the company to the UDZS.
Dovera was fined because it failed to provide timely reports confirming its solvency, including a balance sheet and profit and loss statements for the first two months of 2009. When imposing the €166,000 fine, the UDZS also ordered the company to prepare a restructuring plan to deal with its solvency problems – a measure which was withdrawn during the latest appeal.
Dovera confirmed that it intends to pay the €100,000 fine as required by law, but it is considering further steps it may take, including a court challenge to the UDZS decision.
