Omninvest secures approval for Uzbekistan vaccine plant

Omninvest, a Hungarian
biotechnology firm, has received the go-ahead from the president of Uzbekistan to build a $100m (€71m) factory of vaccines in the Central Asian country, under a partnership agreement signed with the Uzbek government in December, business newspaper
Vilaggazdasag has learnt.
Construction work will commence later this year and the plant is scheduled to become fully operational in 2013, but production is due to begin in the summer of 2012. Approximately 70% of its output will be supplied to export markets.
Omninvest Asia, the Hungarian firm's local unit that will operate the venture, has been granted a tax and customs holiday of five years.
Omninvest produces an A(H1N1) vaccine for the Hungarian market.
