In 2009 the revenues of Centrofarm, a Romanian pharmacy chain, reached RON 143.6m (€34.2m), which constitutes a 38% year-on-year increase, according to Dorin Catana, the CEO of Centrofarm, quoted in Ziarul Financiar. However, the result falls 10% short of the figure initially expected because of a reduction in traffic at the main shopping malls where 30% of the Centrofarm outlets are located.
Centrofarm operates 60 pharmacies and employs 500 people. Approximately 25% of the chain’s sales are generated by just six of its stores. In 2009 Centrofarm opened 23 new outlets in new shopping centres.
