Novartis sales drop in 2008

For 2008 the Swiss pharmaceutical company
Novartis reported sales of CZK 3.44bn (€135.5m) in the
Czech Republic – a decrease of nearly 23% year on year. Net profit decreased by more than 36% and comprised CZK 27m (€1.1m). Novartis predicts a 10% growth in sales this year due to the introduction of new products to the market.
Over 80% of sales in 2008 were generated by the pharmaceutical division.
OTC drugs accounted for less than 20% of total sales.
The consolidated group’s sales last year increased by nearly 9% to $41.5bn (€28.89bn) while net profit increased by almost 25% to nearly $8.2bn (€5.71bn).
