Procurement of drugs in state-owned hospitals in Hungary to be centralised
2012-01-20
According to a recent announcement of the Ministry of National Development, the procurement of pharmaceuticals and medical devices of the state-owned hospitals is to be centralised as of mid-February 2012.
The Institute for the Improvement of Quality and Organisation in the Pharmaceutical Industry and in Healthcare (GYEMSZI) would be responsible for the procurement of drugs and medical devices of inpatient care institutions whose operations are financed from the budget of the National Health Insurance Fund (OEP).
Hospitals that are not state-owned but are financed by the OEP could freely join the centralised procurement system.
